TriGen Energy and Pemex Agree to Jointly Evaluate CCUS Project Opportunities in Mexico.
This groundbreaking project aims to profitably produce clean, dispatchable power while simultaneously enhancing oil production. The CO2 produced will be used for Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR), after which the CO2 will be stored.
By utilizing low quality natural gas (contaminated with either CO2 or N2) or even fuel oil, this initiative promises to deliver significant environmental and economic benefits. The percentage CO2 avoided through this solution is estimated at close to 50%, when compared with producing the oil, gas and power the conventional way.
The TriGen team will collaborate closely with Pemex’s PEP organization to screen potential candidates and propose suitable demonstration sites. These proposals will be presented to Pemex’s leadership for consideration and approval.
Stay tuned for further updates as we embark on this exciting journey towards cleaner energy and enhanced oil recovery.
